This is a video documentary on the fading glory of Queen’s School Enugu. Founded on October 4th, 1954, by the then Government of Eastern Nigeria, the school was named after the Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth II, with a student population of just 30 academically brilliant girls who were all boarders.  Queen’s School Enugu took off in a blaze of glory as the only Government Girl’s Secondary School in the then Eastern Nigeria

Queen’s School then became a centre for national integration and paragon of excellence in academics, dance, dreams and sports.  Queen’s School Enugu, an alma mater of pride to many distinguished women, is today a shadowy skeleton of the glitz and glamour which she once exuded.

Evidences of this fading glory are most aggravated by the current population explosion of over 3,000 students, without addition, maintenance nor improvement in the existing facilities.

This scenario informed the decision of the alumni of Queen’s School Enugu, resident in the West Coast of United States to embark on the inauguration of the chapter and among other objectives raise funds towards returning their alma mater to its past glory.

As women, we know firsthand from experience that when a girl’s life is improved through education, it benefits not only her, but her family, and more importantly the community’s wellbeing as a whole.

As the school motto states “Laborare Uno Amino” working with one mind, Queen’s School Alumni Association will succeed in creating an enabling environment for the restoration of the sparkle to the fading glory of Queen’s School Enugu
